A Daily Devotional About
asking for living water: John 4:10 Jesus answered her, "If
you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have
asked him and he would have given you living water." There is a thirst of the body. There is also a thirst of the soul. The thirst of the body is for physical water. The thirst of the soul is for living water pouring down from Heaven. The physical food and water we need to nourish our body lasts us only a brief time and soon we need more. The living water we need to quench the thirst of our soul is permanent and lasts forever. Knowing the gift of God, knowing about His living water and the nourishment His living water brings, makes us wise beyond our years. When we come to know Christ, we seek and ask for His living water. When we come to know Christ, the water and food of the body become less important. In Christ we have a spring of eternal water, a spring of eternal living water forever flowing down and forever quenching our spiritual thirst. When we kneel in prayer, we must remember to ask for Christ's living water to flow down into the soul of others and down into our soul. |
