A Daily Devotional Look and see the beauty of the earth: 1 Corinthians 15:40 There are also
heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly
bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. (NIV) We live in a busy world leading busy lives. We rush here and there with our phones glued to our ears. We grow impatient at traffic congestion and can't wait for the next letter or message to get to us. If we are not busy we are consumed by life and by the fast pace of our electronic age. In our mad dashes of life, we miss God's creation. We miss seeing the grandeur of His mountains, we miss the orange majesty of His sunset and sunrise, we miss the sparkle of His new fallen snow, and we miss the glistening sunlight upon His lake or stream. We generally live in cities and towns surrounded by civilization. No matter how gleaming and awesome a skyscraper may be, the skyscraper cannot compare to the delicate beauty of His monarch butterfly or the crisp twitch of His squirrel's bushy tail. In missing out on God's creation, we miss out on the love He invested during His creative process. We miss out on His daily support of all He created. When we do not look beneath the surface of His sea, or beneath the bark of His maple tree, we miss out on His unfathomable genius in creating a complex system within a system, within a system, extending on out to the infinite. Outside your door is a blade of His grass, His tiny ant, or His white clipper ship cloud calling out His name. |
