About the best evidence Christ
is alive: 2 Corinthians 3:14 But
thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and
through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. 15 For we
are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are
perishing. 16 To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance
of life. And who is equal to such a task? 17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle
the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with
sincerity, like men sent from God. (NIV) If Jesus had left behind a
video tape of His life and ministry, some persons would discount the tape as a fake and
forgery. If Jesus had left behind a mountain of tangible evidence of His life,
work, death, and resurrection, the mountain of tangible evidence would get all
our attention instead of Christ getting all our attention. Christ does not want
the focus of your attention to be paid upon His shroud or the wood of His Cross.
Christ wants the focus of your attention pointed to His sacrifice and His love
for you. The power of God within you helps you believe without seeing. The power
of God within you helps you have faith in spite of insurmountable odds. Your
best evidence of Christ's reality is within you. The love of Christ stirring
within your heart is the best evidence He is alive this minute. When you kneel
at the foot of His Cross, when you are cleansed by His redeeming blood, then you
become the best evidence He is alive this minute. Our world often rivets our
attention upon the tragedies, horrors, and trials of this life. Instead, Christ
fervently calls you to focus your attention on your innermost heartthe place
within you where He lives and speaks to you if you are willing to listen. |
