A Daily Devotional About the burden of worry: 1 Corinthians. 15:32 If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for merely human reasons, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Worry is such a burden. Of all the burdens we carry, worry is the burden we create on our own and the burden we can do the most about. Worry is the burden we put upon ourselves. Worry does not add to your life. Worry takes away from your life. Worry does not help you. Worry hurts you emotionally and physically. Worry is the result of your own dark imaginings about tomorrow. Worry is caused by thinking about bad things happening in the future instead of thinking about good things happening in the future. However, worry is the burden we can do the most about. Jesus knows about your worries. Jesus knows about your dark imaginings of tomorrow. In Jesus, there is no darkness. In Jesus, there is only the bright and shining light of a time when all darkness will be gone. In Jesus there are no worries. In Jesus, there are no worries because in Him there can be no dark thoughts about what can happen tomorrow. Today, instead of brewing dark imaginings about tomorrow, put your mind into the brightness of Christ's love today lasting forever. Today, instead of worrying about what will happen tomorrow, think about what will happen when you see Jesus. |
