37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your
heart. (NIV) Christmas is the season of giving. Every day should be the season of giving but we associate Christmas with giving more than any other time. Of all the gifts people desire to have in life, we should desire to have the Lord at the center of our life. Material things can not and will not fill up an empty heart for very long. As we live in tough economic times, many people will do without during the Christmas season. Remarkably, we cannot give someone a desire to delight in the Lord. Delighting in the Lord is a particularly individual activity. Of all the gifts we could give or receive, delighting in the Lord would be the gift of a lifetime. Delighting in the Lord brings us closer to Christ's manger. Delighting in the Lord empowers us to be more giving and less selfish. Delighting in the Lord makes us more of His child. Delighting in the Lord puts you in a state of mind where you think about what you will give instead of thinking about what will get. |
