About Christ's gift of the power to forgive: The "hot spots" of the world, the places where war is raging or ready to break out, are parts of the world filled with unforgiving people. Groups of people who are unforgiving are dangerous to the world and dangerous to themselves. People can lash out at others when they hold grudges or hold unforgiving hearts. Christ came into the world to give you power to forgive. No matter who you are or where you are, you need to forgive and let go. Christ brought to us His forgiveness, hoping we in turn would forgive others. Letting hurts, slights, and even persecution "get to you" and not forgive is harmful to you, to others, and to God's work. We must learn to not take the hurts and slights of life in a personal way but instead let every hurt go into Christ's hands. Since Christ has forgiven you, won't you now forgive others? In all the gift giving of Christmas, a fuller life awaits you by being "for giving" of others when they hurt, wrong, or slight you. |
