A Christmas Devotional About following orders from God Matthew 2: 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they (the Magi) returned to their country by another route. 13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." 14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. (NIV) Joseph is following orders. What a lesson for us! Because Joseph was so willing to follow God's orders there is no doubt why God chose Joseph to be Christ's earthly model as a father. Just as Joseph followed orders from God, so did Jesus. However, as we read these verses of scripture about Jesus's infancy we see the forces of darkness and evil begin to churn against Jesus. As wonderful as Christmas is, the forces of darkness and evil churn every day to make us forget about the wonder and love of Christ's birth. The forces of darkness and evil try to come back at us the day after Christmas and try to make us forget about the spirit of giving and love we share on this special day. But as in the gospel account, love wins, Christ wins, and God wins. You can make every day be a day of Christmas spirit. When you make every day a day of Christmas spirit, love wins, Christ wins, God wins, and you win.
