A Daily Devotional

We see the world from within our own life. Seeing Christ's suffering upon the cross takes us out of our life and then we see everything, including our job, in a different light. It sounds sacrilegious to speak of the cross and your job at the same time because it is. Talking about your job and the cross sounds sacrilegious because it is. The cross is a symbol of the horrific sacrifice Christ made for each of us. The cross is a symbol of our Lord and what is sacred. Your job is not sacred. You need your job. You need your job to survive financially and survive in other ways in this temporary life. However, you also need Christ. You need Christ so you can live fully in this life and so you can live forever in Heaven. The more we really and truly see all of our earthly wants and needs in the background and Christ's suffering upon the cross in the foreground, the more we are able to see the relevance and irrelevance of our job. The cross connects to your job as long as you understand the magnitude of Christ's suffering for you and how you are supposed to walk and talk as He wants you to walk and talk�on your job. By having a Christ-like view of the world with the cross in front of all you see, then your job takes on Christ's perspective. When you accept Christ, you see your job as if you were looking through a window with the cross in front of your job while your job remains in the background.
