A Daily Devotional This
Devotional Is Related To Dependency And
Co-dependency Issues. Rules Of About feeling guilty because you are doing fun things for yourself 1 Peter 1:8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, (NIV) Christians are sometimes guilty of self-punishment. Christians, too often, take delight in punishing themselves because they have not fully accepted they are truly new creatures in Christ. We must be careful in talking about this matter. As Christians, we are not to take delight in selfish pursuits. However, we are also not to punish ourselves to the point of taking away the fun things of our life. We cannot bless God by making ourselves suffer. We cannot bless God by making ourselves live in poverty if we impose poverty upon ourselves because we do not feel worthy. To impose poverty and a grimness of life upon ourselves is an example of our doing something out of our weakness, not out of our strength. |
