A Daily Devotional About finding freedom… Col. 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: (KJV) Many of us can walk or drive from one place to another but in the larger context of our life we can often be bound by unhealthy circumstances, addictions, or attachments. We can find freedom from our imprisoning darkness. We can find freedom by fully confronting the truth, no matter where the truth leads and no matter what the truth might be. In the truth, we find freedom. We find a freedom from our past only so long as we are able to find freedom to change from who we are now to who Christ wants us to be. We find freedom when we remember we are forgiven in Christ's love and grace. We find freedom when we surrender up all we are to Christ who waits patiently for us day to day. People caught up in worldliness will not believe Christians have found freedom because Christians generally look away from the ways of the world in favor of the ways of Christ. As Christians, we choose to walk the narrow road rather than choosing to walk the wide road. On the surface, the wide road appears to offer more freedom. Being able to live a sinful life appears to offer more freedom to choose. However, when we look beneath the surface of the sinful life with all those apparent freedoms, we see a life full of pain, heartache, mistakes, loneliness, and a level of imprisonment none of us would ever want if we could see the eventual consequences of our actions. |
