A Daily Devotional About simply finding God in simple ways… Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of
my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. (NIV) We can make finding God
very complicated. We can impose theological constraints, cultural bias, systemic
ideas, and our own selfishness upon how, when, and where we can seek God.
However, when we admit the truth, the truth is as simple and beautiful as is
written by the psalmist. What we want in life determines in large measure what
we get. When we want the things of life, we may get the things we want but end
up in a desperate state of spiritual poverty. When we want money, wealth, and
power, we may get them but end up with emptiness within us no amount of money,
wealth, and power can fill. When we want to find God, He can be with us in an
instant. When we ask the Lord to let us find Him, He is instantly revealed. The
simplest desires to find God are rewarded. The simplest desires to find God are
the desires God will fulfill in us. When we recognize God is beautiful…and
simply ask Him to reveal His beauty…and ask nothing more…we are then
immersed in His rainbow Light of flowing love falling upon us from Heaven. Then
we know God dwells in the temple of our heart. |
