A Daily Devotional About finding God (2)… Job 23:3 If only I knew where to find him; if only I could go to his dwelling! (NIV) Job was headed in the right direction. He was looking for the true Light. Job was overcome with the devastation Satan had delivered in Job’s life. Many of us can sympathize with Job because many of us are on our own rocky roads not of our own choosing or making. One must wonder what Job might have thought had he been told he could find God's Son hanging on a Cross. You can find Him, that is God, the Innocent of innocents, hanging on a Cross, bleeding, with a crown of thorns smashed into His brow, with a body tortured by flogging. You can find Him on a cross pleading, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:43, KJV) Many people spend their whole life searching for God, searching for some ultimate spiritual transformation, searching for some ultimate spiritual experience. When we are searching for God, we must look at the horrible, gruesome, devastating sight of Jesus on the Cross. When we kneel in front of Him there, and we confront and admit who and what we are, we find God. We find ultimate spiritual transformation, and we find the ultimate spiritual experience. We find these "ultimates" even when our own life has been devastated. |
