A Daily Devotional About getting help from God Psalms 18:6 In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. (NIV) We all need help from God at some point in life. Some of us need help from God every day just to get through the day. Others think they need help from God only occasionally. In getting help from God, the most important part is letting ourselves be helped. This last sentence is not a twisted thought nor is the last sentence twisted. To receive help from God, we must be willing to put our soul, our life, and our heart into a position so He can work in us and through us. With God, we cannot get help on our terms. With God, we can get help only on His terms. If we had our own way, every time we called upon God for help, He would deliver what we want, like we want it. Fortunately for us, God does not work in this manner. To receive help from God, we must cast aside our ego, our wants, our pride, our selfishness, and our sin. When we cast aside the parts of us separating us from God, then God helps us in wonderful ways we cannot imagine. |
