A Daily Devotional About God’s purpose (2)… Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. (NIV) You will notice this verse says the Lord’s purpose "prevails." You can have a plan and a purpose to do what you want to do or do what you think God wants you to do. However, God’s plan eventually floats to the top. God’s plan often appears as if His plan has been defeated when you have to deal with the dark times of life. God’s plan appears to have taken a mortal blow when you look at the depravity of the world. God's plan appears to have gone into a state of non-existence when you see war and the aftermath of war. In your personal life, God seems to have turned His back on you when you have to deal with pain, suffering, and tragedy. However, in every dark place in this world, God does exist regardless of the circumstances. In every dark place, God is in this place quietly and invisibly working. You must look at dark places with your eyes of faith. Why God does or does not do what He does or does not do is often shrouded in mystery. The ways of God are often beyond your reach and beyond your understanding. However, in every darkness, there is a Light. There is a Light of Christ’ love shining for you. If you search within your heart, you can see His Light because you can have His Light within you. Even though you do not have every answer, you can still know the true outcome of all things rests in God’s loving hands and you can trust Him with your life. |
