About the goodness of hope in God:

Lamentations 3:25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; (NIV)

Often, when our life is difficult and we are beset by problems and issues seeming to have no solution, we can easily think God does not know or care about us. Whenever we think this way, all we have to do is cast our hope on Him. Casting our hope on God is like casting a net into the water to catch fish. To cast a net into the water to catch fish requires us to actually do the work by using our whole heart and our energy. In the same way, we must use our whole heart and energy to cast our hope on God. We must not be backward about hoping in God. We must not be timid about placing our life, our problems, and our issues into the hands of Christ. For no matter how difficult things may be at the moment for you, when you cast all your hope into the living water of Christ's love, there is always hope. There is always hope in Christ because in Christ we always find the presence of God's love and grace for eternity. If we will do our part by having faith and casting our net into His living water Christ will be good and we will harvest an abundance of His love.
