A Daily Devotional About
growing up… James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my
brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the
testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work
so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you
lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding
fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not
doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the
wind. Joy
in trials? What kind of idea is this?!?!: Testing
of faith? Who wants to be tested?!?!: Be
joyful under affliction? What kind of God is this?!?!: We have a God who wants us to grow up and be mature. The ultimate characteristic of a mature person is measured by how they handle trials and adversity. The ultimately mature person sees past an affliction and really does find joy in spite of the affliction. The ultimately mature person really does see past the testing of faith. Instead of wilting under the test of faith, the mature person comes back in victory, no matter what the circumstances might be. Growing up into spiritual maturity means we see we might lack for everything in terms of the world. However, in spiritual maturity we see we lack for nothing because we have the infinite love and power of God in our heart, mind, and soul. Lacking in nothing from God, we build up spiritual strength to win the victory over our trials. In our trials, God gives us wisdom to see and understand all things. God gives us the power and wisdom to know how He is working with us to make us victors. In the middle of our trials we often find we live in a world of fault finders. However, God does not find fault. Instead of finding fault, God is the giver of grace…grace totally erasing faults so faults do not exist. |
