A Daily Devotional About the heavy hand of God… Joshua 4:24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever. (KJV) We live in an age when many people seem to not fear God. These people act as if they are untouchable by God. Some people are even anti-God. In our faith, we too often sugar coat the dark consequences of going against God because we do not want to offend people. In addition, we do not want people thinking about God getting angry because we do not want people to be upset, or we do not want people to be afraid of God. However, no matter how we talk about God and His power, the harder you push against God's will, the tougher things are going to get for you. The closer you get to hell's fire, the closer you get to being burned. Conversely, the more you move in the direction of God's leading hand, the easier things can get for you. If you don't believe the closer you get to hell's fire the closer you get to being burned, consider the consequences of going against God's hand by living an ungodly life. If you live an ungodly life where you get a sexually transmittable disease, you find out what can happen by going against the heavy hand of God. If you push hard enough against the hand of God you will crush yourself, you will crush the life of others, and you will see your blessings and opportunities evaporate in front of your eyes. You have every reason to fear God and fear the consequences of not doing His will. You have every reason to fear God because pushing against God's will can lead to the emotional death of your heart and the eventual living death of your spirit. |
