A Daily Devotional About helping others… Proverbs 31:8 "Speak up for those who
cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. 9 Speak up
and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy." (NIV) You are surrounded by the
poor and needy. The rich executive who seems to have life all together can have
an impoverished soul. The homeless man on the street may have nowhere to turn
because of mistakes he made, sins he or others committed, metal illness, or a
life full of circumstances he cannot control. The poor and needy need you to
help them. This does not mean you live their life for them or do for them what
they can do for themselves. Helping the needy means you let them know you care.
Helping others requires you help others step up and be stronger. Most of the
poor and needy want out of their circumstances and they are willing to work to
get out. Even when you help others and they take advantage of you, you have
still made an impact upon them. Even when you help others and they do not
express appreciation, your help is still a help. Appreciation should not be
wanted or expected by you. |
