A Daily Devotional About keeping God in your heart Psalms 106: 7 When our fathers were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea. (NIV) We can very easily forget about God, about what God can do, and about what He has done for us in the past. We do not forget about God on purpose, what we do is just not pay attention to Him. Effort on our part is required to always keep God in front of us. Although God parted the Red Sea and freed the Israelites from slavery, His children later forgot about Him. We must make an effort, a daily effort, to keep God in front of us. This means we need to keep His presence within our mind and heart. If we turn away from God, then He will let us drift away. He does not put us on a chain and jerk us around like an animal. We are as free to forget Him and rebel against Him as were the Israelites. Today, make the effort to keep His presence in your mind and heart and do not be distracted. |
