A Daily Devotional About living life with peace rather than turmoil… John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. These are soothing words. In a world full of turmoil, we need soothing words. In our turmoil, we do want what the world gives us. We want our televisions, cars, houses, appliances of every kind, money, you name it, we want it. However, we cannot find peace in any of these material things. A new car does not bring peace because a new car is just a diversion. Money does not bring peace because money is either not enough or too much. What we want most of all is peace in our heart. We want our heart to be calm, at rest, and full of joy. The momentary distractions we can find in our world do not give us the peace of Christ. Only Christ, who gives us joy, serenity, and an eternal view of our life, can give us the peace calming the troubled waters of our soul. |
