A Daily Devotional

About making peace with God…

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (NIV)

You would think making peace with God ought to be a daily experience. The idea of "making peace with God" in our modern English language signifies we are at war with God until we have "made peace". The truth is, we are indeed at war with God. We are at war with God because we do not do what God wants us to do. We are at war with God because we go in directions against His will. Waiting until we think we are at our last hour is not a good idea because this very hour we are in right now could be our last hour.

You can wait until to make peace with God. However, what will you do when your time has already run out? What each of us should do is walk in peace with God rather than waging war against Him. Oh, we don't think about waging war against God. We just don't do what He wants us to do. More often than not, we wage a silent war against God. When we wage a silent war with God we don't talk to Him, we don't listen to Him, and we pretend He does not exist. However, sooner or later, perhaps sooner than any of us want, we will come to our last hour. Tragically, people often come to their last hour without knowing their last hour has arrived. For you, there may not be enough time to "make your peace with God." However, you need not worry if you make your peace with God right now. Now is the hour to be at peace. Now is the hour to turn away from waging a silent war against God. Now is the hour to reject your old war-like ways against Him. Now is the hour to turn to the prince of peace dieing for you on the Cross. Accept Christ into your heart this hour and find a peace none of us can begin to describe. Accept Christ into your heart and bring the peace of Heaven down into your life. Open your heart and accept Christ to find His sweet peace filling your soul and you will exclaim you have made peace with God.
