A Daily Devotional About the power of common sense… Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of
the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp
and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to
everyone in the house. (NIV) One of the great gifts of God is common sense and the ability to do common sense tasks. When you use your common sense, you can see things as they truly are, not as you want things to be or as you hope things to be. When you abandon your common sense, you end up trying to make things out to be what they are not. When you abandon your common sense, you begin to tell yourself untruths you know in your heart are untruths. In God's mysterious ways, your common sense can lead you to bring His light to others in ways you might not consider. When you neglect using your common sense, you begin to build castles in the sky and forget about the needs and hungers of those around you. When you live in flights of fancy, you tend to lose contact with those who need you the most. Your common sense (a true gift from God) gives you the ability to see His beauty in the most common of people, places, and circumstances. |
