A Daily Devotional About praying in times of grief… John 16:22 So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. 23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. (NIV) When we are grieving, we are doubled over in pain. The pain and shock of our grief blinds us to our current surroundings. Grief destroys our hope because the pain of our grief pushes out any prospects we have for the future. In our grief, we must remember we have a choice about what we embrace as our future. When we pray in our grief, we must try and remember Jesus tells us we will see Him in the future and we will be rejoicing. Jesus says our joy will be everlasting. When you are praying in grief, pray with the assurance your future is joyous because your future will be joyous. Then, your present will take on new meaning and new purpose. God understands and feels your grief. Because God feels your grief, Jesus paints such a wonderful picture of your future with Him. |
