A Daily Devotional About sacrifice as a part of faith… Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead. (NIV) Christ sacrificed himself and went to the Cross for each of us. Thousands of people gave up their lives as martyrs in the early church. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions have died for our faith in the last two thousand years. We must also add to these numbers the casualties in World War I and II, as well as other military actions to preserve our freedom of worship. Worship services today in many places in the world take place in secret because of bias, bigotry, and persecution. Truly, every worship service for Christ has been cast in blood. Sacrifice is the backbone of our faith. Sacrifice is the spine in the body of Christ called His church. Sacrifice is the spine in the character of a human being. We sacrifice because we have faith. Without sacrifice, faith is nothing. |
