A Daily Devotional About stopping hatred… Matthew 5:43 "You have
heard that it was said, `Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell
you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be
sons of your Father in heaven. (NIV) Stopping hatred starts with
you. Stopping hatred in the world starts with one person at a time giving love
rather than hate. So vast is humanity, stopping hatred seems to be the work of
only the great nations or great rulers upon the earth. Jesus was not a great
ruler as we think of great rulers in a worldly sense. Jesus only ministered unto
the masses for three years. He was tortured and crucified. He had no earthly
wealth. He had no earthly army. However, Jesus left us the hope of eternal life.
Jesus left us a reason and a power to stop hatred where we are. We can stop
hatred where we are by loving each other. We can stop hatred where we are by
loving those no one else loves. We can stop hatred by expressing to others how
important they are. When people do not think they are important, when people
think no one sees them or appreciates them, the unseen unappreciated person
usually hates. We stop hatred by loving others which helps others affirm their
importance. We stop hatred in others by affirming their own ability to love. |
