the one and only way: John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into
the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. To believe things have changed in our modern life, to believe we have become more able to handle or deal with sin in our modern life is a lie. To believe our culture will keep us from sin and to believe our culture will make us righteous or right living is a lie. To believe education will keep us righteous or right living is a lie. To believe our knowledge about the world will keep us righteous or right living is a lie. To believe we are personally strong enough to avoid the deathly consequences of sin is a lie. To believe our human technological progress will keep us righteous or right living is a lie because in nearly every human technological advance we use the technological advance for sinful purposes. Because we want to be saved by any means other than surrendering all of who we are and surrendering all of what we are up to Christ, we want to find some other way to deal with our sin plague. We want technology to save us, hobbies to save us, another person to save us, awareness of world events to save us, preparation for the future to save us, church attendance to save us, giving and sacrificing to save us, and any number devices and ways to save us. The unrepentant person or sinner wants some other way out of the sin problem. However, there is only one way to be saved from the sin plague surely causing our ultimate death. The one way to be saved is God's way. The one way to be saved is personally accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. |
