A Daily Devotional About the size of God.. Psalms 139:5 You hem me in--behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. 6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. 7Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. The size of God in your life depends upon how honest and truthful you can be with Him and with yourself. When you know there are things within you needing attention yet you ignore these things, then God is diminished within you because you have not permitted Him to work fully and fruitfully within you. The size of God within you is also determined by how much you trust Him. To trust God is a supremely mature act. Most of us want a written statement or a written guarantee things will be alright. We are willing to trust God only if God proves to us we have no need to trust Him. We are willing to trust God if we do not need to run any risk. To trust our unseen God who speaks to us only in quiet whispers requires us to put our whole person or whole being into His hands. This is hard to do. Yet we know we can trust Him for we instinctively know He loves us and He would not fail us. |
