About trusting in the future…

John 14:2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. (NIV)

We have no hard facts about the future. We have no hard data about the future. Human prophecy is unreliable. However, we must remember we live in the here and now, not tomorrow. Everything will be OK tomorrow if we make things as OK as possible right now. You cannot trust in the future, but you can trust God. You cannot trust in the future but you can trust God to always walk with you and talk with you now and in the future. We must neither trust the future nor distrust the future because instead of living tomorrow we must live today. Indeed, the wise and prudent prepare today for tomorrow. The wise and prudent take precautions, save, and prepare for eventualities. However, the focus of our life must be on where we are now and how we are now. If we do not take care of our business at hand, our life can crash and burn in the future. When we think about the future, our thoughts must be about Christ. When we think about the future, our thoughts must be about Christ smiling when we arise in the morning. Our thoughts about the future must be about God's power flowing down from heaven when we eat breakfast. Our thoughts must be about God's love as we move toward noon. Our thoughts must be about the power of God's grace in the afternoon. Our thoughts must be about seeing all the blessings God gives us as we approach the evening time. Then, just as we nod off for the night, we can see every day of our future on earth and our future in Heaven as full, secure, and loaded down with God's peace, joy, and glory.
