A Daily Devotional About
the weakness of the flesh… Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into
temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." (NIV) Jesus makes a point to warn us about praying so we do not fall into temptation. Jesus tells us the truth about temptation and He expects us to recognize the truth about not falling into temptation. Jesus tells us the truth about temptation because our Lord knows Satan can get to us or tempt us. If you do not watch and pray, Satan will make you want to jump into the pit of sin. When you do not watch and pray for protection against temptation, you can willingly jump into the pit of sinful darkness. When you do not watch and pray for protection against temptation, you voluntarily jump into circumstances and situations hurtful to your soul and hurtful to others. Our flesh is weak. Without seeking God’s power and help, we not only don’t resist temptation, we also willingly cave in to the darkness of the flesh. Although the flesh is weak, you are rich in the spirit and love of God. You are wealthy in God’s power and protection. Your armory of God’s blessings is full of humility and thankfulness…two of your greatest weapons against Satan’s attacks. |
