A Daily Devotional About when God says "No" in His compassion… Jeremiah 31:20 Is not Ephraim my dear son, the child in whom I delight? Though I often speak against him, I still remember him. Therefore my heart yearns for him; I have great compassion for him," declares the Lord. (NIV) How could a loving
and compassionate God ever turn us down? How could God turn His back upon you
when you need Him to give you what you want? God sometimes tells you
"No" in His compassion. God sometimes says you cannot have what you
think you want and need. However, God does not delight in saying "No."
God does not enjoy not giving you what you demand, for God hurts with you. God
hurts with you in your unmet needs. When God does not give you what you want and
need, God does not rejoice. When God does not give you what you think you want
and need, remember God is for you, not against you. When God does not give you
what you think you want and need, God is your resource of compassion and caring.
When you ask God to stop your pain and God says "No," God answers you
with His compassion for your suffering. When you ask God to take a burden away
from you and God says "No," God still answers you with compassion
because God knows you are being crushed. |
