A Daily Devotional About when God says "No" in His wisdom… Isaiah 55:9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (NIV) As a race of so-called intelligent beings, we have developed ways of killing off our race. We have ways of destroying all life on earth. God must look at us in angered frustration over what we have done. God's wrath must burn over what we continue to do to each other and to the planet. If we will be honest with God and honest with ourselves, we will see God tells us "No" because God is smarter and wiser than us. Although our brains can possess wisdom, most often we do not use our wisdom to glorify God. Although we are mature enough to absorb wisdom, write wisdom down, and proclaim wisdom, most often we do not apply wisdom. Is it any wonder God sometimes refuses to give us what we want when we want it? Perhaps God does not give us what we want because telling us "No" is the only way God has to keep us from self-destruction. We tell a little child they cannot play with fire or scissors because we know the child could be hurt or killed from the fire or scissors. God is much wiser than us. God is more able to see how what we do today can glorify Him today and tomorrow. God can see our devastating mistakes in advance. He then tries to prepare for us a path to help us avoid devastating mistakes. |
