A Daily Devotional About
when the Lord teaches… Psalm 119:75 I know, O Lord, that your
laws are righteous, and in faithfulness you have afflicted me. (NIV) Human beings, as a group of so-called rational beings, are very thick headed. From the beginning of the human race God has been trying to teach us certain principles of life and principles of behavior. In many respects, we still do not seem to have gotten the message or to have learned the lessons. Generally speaking, what the Lord tries to teach us is the right way to live. If your car needs repaired, there is a right way to make the repair and numerous wrong ways to make the repair. Everything usually works as intended when the right way of making the repair is followed. Mechanical chaos ensues when the wrong repair method is used. There is a right way to bake a cake and a wrong way to bake a cake. The right way to bake a cake is to follow the recipe to the letter and bake the cake at an exact temperature in the oven. If you don’t follow the recipe, the cake does not turn out well. There is a right way and a wrong way to drive a car. However, many people persist in driving the wrong way with often disastrous results. In the eyes of God, we are rebellious students. A few of us are willing to follow His instructions. The rest of us will have mechanical breakdowns. We will have to eat bad tasting cake that was burned in the oven or not baked at all. We will drive on the wrong side of the road. However, God is patient, kind and loving. So in your life, when there is a breakdown, a bad taste in your mouth, and you seem to be going the wrong way on a one-way street, God will be there to help you go in the right direction. |
