A Daily Devotional About when you can't fix your relationships.. Hebrews 10:21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. (NIV) There are times in our life when we have relationships needing fixing but we cannot seem to fix. Our relationships can break, change, or start out broken and unhealthy. Every relationship is different. Every circumstance is different. Advice about what to do in one relationship does not always apply to another. When you can't fix a relationship, one of the things every person can do in every circumstance is draw nearer to God. One of the things every person can do in every relationship is to do more of God's will. Too many times and too often, people will use broken relationships as excuses to not come closer to God and to not do more of God's will. Coming closer to God and doing more of God's will can mean a personally damaging relationship on a physical or emotional level must be terminated. However, we must not let the behavior of others on any level, whether the level is family, work, national, international, racial, or cultural, ever separate us from God. In a world shredded by personal violence and animosity on every level, we must all draw nearer to God. We must all try to do more of God's will. We must all pray more, love more, and reach out to each other in peace and kindness. |
