A Daily Devotional About why we should love each other… 1 John 4:19 We love because He first loved us. (NIV) Humankind would like to take credit for inventing God. There are many scholars who essentially believe and preach to college students religion is something man made up. These scholars want the members of the human race to be given credit for coming up with the idea of a loving God. These scholars are saying the opposite of the truth in this verse. Our love for God and our love for each other as persons is a result of the love we know to be God. This love comes from God. In creating us and in creating societies God embedded love into our survival equation. In our daily life, no matter how difficult our life might be, we need to try to spread love around. We can try to spread love around in the world without God. However, since God is love, including God in our daily life makes our life a lot easier and our survival as a race more assured. When we understand the depth and breadth of God’s love for us, we do not look at others the same way. When we understand and experience God’s love we see others as lovable. When we accept God’s love for us, no matter who other people are or where they are we can see how God can love them. |
