About acknowledging your sin�

Psalm 32:5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord"-- and you forgave the guilt of my sin. (NIV)

Our being honest brings a smile from God. Before we do anything in the Christian faith, before we do anything before God, we must be honest. When we are honest with ourselves and with God, we acknowledge we are sinners and acknowledge our sin. By acknowledging our sin, we break the chains sin has upon our life. By acknowledging our sin, we inherit the freedom God has for us. We can say we are sinners, but we must go even further. To find ultimate personal freedom, we must look at our sin, admit or confess our sin in godly sorrow, and then ask Christ to forgive us. Unless we do these steps to our freedom, our guilt will weigh upon us and keep us from being the free persons God has always meant for us to be. We do not need to be eloquent in our confession to God. We do not need many words. All we need in our confession to God is to say, "Father, I have sinned. Please forgive me, a lowly sinner." When we say these words from our heart, God is just and will forgive us.
