About asking in Christ's name:

John 16:23-24 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. [24] Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

Q. In our life, what do we ask for and how do we ask for it?

A. We ask for things, for stuff, for our life to be better, to be relieved of our burdens, and to be taken out of our circumstances. We ask too much for ourselves and not enough for the glory of God to be revealed in others and in our world. We ask too much for selfish reasons.

Q. Do we ask for joy?

A. We think joy is the result. We think joy will come once we have other things done for us or we do other things for God. In the eyes of God, joy is not necessarily a result. Joy is an example of who God is. God can be thought of as a being of joy. Joy can be the start or beginning of all things instead of the result of our doing or being.

Q. Do we ask for love?

A. When we ask God for anything, anything at all, we must first ask for His love to abound in others and to abound in our world. Then we must ask God to give us the power to always do His will in love. We must ask God to help us in how we live out our lives, knowing what we do and who we are has a result in Heaven and a result on earth..a result in love.
