About Christ's gift of His Light in the darkness:

Matthew 4:16 the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. (NIV)

Darkness exists in the world. Darkness lurks about in every life. In the light of Christ's love and grace, the darkness has no power. Because Christ was born, each of us has His gift of light to enlighten us, to guide us, and to set us free from the chains of darkness. The gift of Christ's light enables us to look up and give thanks. The gift of Christ's light enables us to look up and glorify Him in every circumstance, even in circumstances when darkness seems to be winning out against us. The gift of Christ's light gives us a power to receive His love. His light gives us the power to pray to Him each day knowing in our heart He hears us and acts upon our pleas and petitions. The gift of Christ's light gives us wisdom and knowledge we would never have on our own. The gift of Christ's light gives us a power to survey His wonders and stand in awe of His creation. Lastly, the gift of Christ's light fills our soul with a vision of heaven, His heaven and our heaven, with the certain knowledge heaven is our future home.
