A Daily Devotional

When we have many disappointments, especially at the hands of others, we may then have trouble trusting others. Sometimes, when we have many disappointments with others, we may not have much confidence in ourselves. Then we find someone who verifies our lack of confidence in ourselves. We tie ourselves to this kind of person who will then disappointment us. We can get on a treadmill of lack of confidence in ourselves, leading to disappointments, trouble trusting others, leading to more disappointment, leading in turn to more trouble trusting others. This cycle of distrust and disappointment can go on throughout our life. We sometimes put God on this same treadmill. We may not trust God then we end up being disappointed in Him because we did not trust Him. Lack of trust in any relationship (with others or with God) says the relationship needs work. However, God can be trusted in healthy ways. God never violates our trust if we always trust God to do His will and not our will. What must we trust God to do or not do? What we must trust God to do is love us. In all the tough and sometimes terrible circumstances of our life, the one thing we need the most is to be loved. We can have our worries, doubts, and fears, but if we are loved, we can deal with our worries, doubts, and fears. We all have our limitations, but if we are loved, we can work around our limitations if we are honest about them. The one thing you can trust God to do in your life is to love you every minute you are alive. God may not bring you a perfect job, a perfect person, a perfect fortune, or perfect success every day you are alive. You may trust God to do all these things for you. However, you will be disappointed because of all the jobs God does for you, loving you unconditionally is His main job in your life. God sent His only child to earth to tell you He loved you. God actively demonstrated He loved you by sending Christ into the world. God knew in advance the sin in your heart would torture and murder His Son. When you turn away from your sinful distrust of God and trust Him to always love you, He comes to be with you and He pours His love over your life.
