Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. (NIV)

Never taking time out of your life for God and yourself will result in burn out. In a sense, focusing all your energy on other people and problems can be a form of running away. God gives all of us the power and energy to be at peace. Being pre-occupied with people and problems can take you away from God as well as take you away from healthy relationships with others. Instead of focusing all your energy on other people and problems, take time out for extended prayer and meditation. By taking all your cares and burdens to Christ in prayer, your energy and power will be sustained and renewed. By coming close to God in prayer, you can be more effective in helping others as well as be a true witness for Christ in the world around you. Living next to God is not running away from reality. Living next to God brings you closer to reality than at any other time.
