About giving vs. taking:
2 Corinthians 9:6Remember this: Whoever
sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also
reap generously. 7Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give,
not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is
able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having
all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (NIV)
The lower life forms do not know the cost of giving. The dog or cat seeming to give so much love is, in most cases, only seeking comfort from us. Human beings can see the cost, perhaps the supreme cost, of giving. Although we see the cost of giving, we must give anyway. In the call to give, we sometimes hear the dark voice within us telling us to hold back. We sometimes hear the dark voice within us telling us to not give as much as we can. The dark voice tells us to only give a small amount for all of us have our wants, our needs, our pressures, and our commitments. If Satan has his way with a person, the person will degrade down to the level of the lower life forms and only take. Under Satan's influence a person will selfishly give only to get back in return. God calls us to rise above the pettiness of our human frailties and generously give. One of God's fundamental laws of life and nature is the more you sow, the more you reap in return. In our walk of faith, we must strive to give more than others expect. We must strive to give more than even we think we can give. When we anonymously give, we can know with certainty our Lord is glorified by the generosity of our heart and life.
