A Daily Devotional
About when God says "No" in
mystery:
Colossians 2:2 My purpose is that they may
be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches
of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God,
namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
(NIV)
When God does not give us
what we pray for, or when He sometimes gives us the opposite of what we pray
for, there can be a mystery in what God does. In truth, we cannot always know or
understand the ways of God. We cannot always understand the actions of God. God
will do things or not do things making no sense to us. We must understand God
keeps His mystery for good reasons. We must also understand God keeps His
mystery for reasons to help us, not hurt us. When human beings could interact
with God directly in the Garden of Eden, we wanted to be like Him. Sadly, we wanted to
have His power and wisdom. Perhaps this is why He must now remain, in part, a
mystery. What is not mysterious about God is thisHe loves you. What is not
mysterious about God is He wants only your best from you. We know God loves us
so much He sent His only Son to die for us so we could live with Him in Heaven
forever. What we cannot easily fathom, what we cannot easily understand, what
remains as our greatest mystery, is how
much loves us.
