There is an old saying about paint adapted from this verse. The old saying is "paint covers a multitude of sins." When you apply a good coat of paint then all the blemishes, marks, scrapes, and even dirt gets covered over. Love works the same way as paint. When you truly love someone, you don't see the blemishes. You have heard the saying "love is blind." This saying expresses the same truth coming from the above verse. When we repent and fall upon our knees at the foot of the Cross, seeking Christ's forgiveness, the love of Christ covers over or wipes away our sin. Christ's loving forgiveness erases forever any marks or blemishes on our record in Heaven. When Christ wraps His arms around you, there are no more debts to pay because His love has cancelled your debts. Because our faults and blemishes have been covered over by Christ's abounding love, we can also see past faults and blemishes in others. Love does indeed make us blind to the faults of others. When a relationship is not what the relationship should be, Christ's love can heal a relationship by eliminating and erasing faults.
