A Daily Devotional
About living forgiveness:
Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men when
they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you
do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (NIV)
Knowing you
should forgive others is good. Actually forgiving those who
have wronged you or others is even better. Listening and reading about
forgiveness is a
good thing to do. However, relishing the idea of forgiveness and never actually
forgiving is not good to do. God loves you and
forgives you. He also expects you to pass on His forgiveness to others by
forgiving others when they trespass against you. Forgiveness should be part of
the substance of your life. If you love others and do not forgive them, you
cannot possibly have loved them in the beginning. Part of loving others is the
act of forgiving them without conditions, even after they have wronged you. You
must live forgiveness. When you live forgiveness, you erase all the boundaries
separating you from those who commit wrongs against you. You must live
forgiveness without ever expecting the persons you forgive to forgive you back.
You must live forgiveness until your last minute on earth. When you ascend to
see Christ, the forgiving Master will say to you "Well done" because
you have lived forgiveness.
