About our everlasting hope
Psalms 25:4 Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; 5 guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
Human beings, especially those of us in Western civilization, create mountains of trash. In our trash are all the gadgets, gizmos, appliances, furniture, and the "stuff" of our everyday life we no longer want or use. The material things of our life wear out or break down. Our material machines and inventions have a limited lifespan. If we put our hope in machines, we would, after a while, be disappointed because machines experience mechanical failure. Our technological inventions do seemingly miraculous things for us. Our machines can even keep us alive, but not eternally alive. Whatever hope we have in life must be placed in Christ for Christ is the only eternal and lasting hope of mankind. Christ will never fail us like a machine will fail us. When we need hope the most, when we need hope to pick us up and carry us forward, Christ is our only real source of the kind of hope we need. With Christ, we have a constant hope for a glorious future beyond human description.
