A Daily Devotional
About a treasure of friends.
John 15:13 Greater love has no one than
this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do
what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not
know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything
that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. (NIV)
Life, for many people, is
lived under a dark cloud of loneliness. For many people, life includes no
friends. Many of us must come to learn friendships are built and nurtured.
Friends are a treasure we can build and acquire. To build a friend means we
build up another person in love. When a person is in need, any kind of need, a
true friend stands beside the person in thought and in prayer. Perhaps we cannot
be beside someone because of some kind of physical limitation. However, a true
friend is always invested in another person's life regardless of physical
limitations. The Lord's love can be present in the life of a friend through your
witness. Friends are a treasure because with friends, you get to show God.
Friends are a treasure because with friends, you get to give in Christ's name
rather than trying to get for yourself.
