About turning to God when evil
strikes:
Psalm 27:8 My heart says of
you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek. 9 Do not hide your
face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior (NIV)
Evil has a way of gripping our
attention. Evil has a way of putting a hook into us. Once the hook is implanted,
we can then be "hooked" by the evil. One of the ways we can deal with
evil is by removing evil's hook and turning away from the evil. If evil puts a
hook in us we must keep turning away and turning away and turning away from the
evil. We must always, always, always turn to Jesus until we die. You would think
in this life there should be some kind of place where we could go to be
protected from evil's destruction. However, there is no place of protection for
us in this life. You would think if we always live a holy, pure, and devout
life, evil would not seek to hurt us, haunt us, or hook us. However, there is no
secret hiding place on earth from evil. Even when we are holy, pure, and devout
then evil still tries to attack us. Evil lurks everywhere on earth. To deal with evil
when evil strikes, we must turn away from evil and turn to God. However, turning
away from evil is not enough. For when we turn away from evil, we must then turn
toward someone or something. The
opposite of evil is good. The opposite of Satan is God. When the most horrible
of disasters strikes you, turn to God. When you have lost everything and
everyone, turn toward God.
