About what God expects:

2 Samuel 9:3 The king asked, "Is there no one still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show God's kindness?" Ziba answered the king, "There is still a son of Jonathan; he is crippled in both feet." 4 "Where is he?" the king asked. Ziba answered, "He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar." 5 So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel. 6 When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor. David said, Mephibosheth!" "Your servant," he replied. 7 "Don't be afraid," David said to him, "for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table." (NIV)

The Holy Bible is filled with truth and wisdom. Perhaps the most difficult biblical truth to accept is what God expects you to do and to be. God expects you to be a person of love and kindness. In the expectations of God, you can find the secret to a happy and joyful life. When all the joy is gone in your life, God expects more of you than whining, complaining, and griping. When you hurt, God expects you to actually do something about the hurt. God expects you to act upon your hurt by reaching out to others to help them in their hurt. In God's wisdom, when you are lonely, you are to be a friend to others. When you are isolated, you are to reach out to others who are isolated. When you are suffering, you are to bring good words of encouragement to others who are suffering. When you are in doubt about matters of life or matters of the heart, give reassurance to others. When you do not have the strength to push ahead, give the words of strength and encouragement you need to others in need. When you are in grief, comfort someone else who is grieving.
