A Daily Devotional

About what we do when an opportunity is stolen:

Job 5:13 He catches the wise in their craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are swept away. 14 Darkness comes upon them in the daytime; at noon they grope as in the night. 15 He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth; he saves them from the clutches of the powerful. 16 So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth. (NIV)

Many opportunities are taken from us. We can have jobs actively taken from us by another person. We can lose jobs due to the economy. We can have relationships come apart because someone said something or did something to hurt or injure us. What should we do? When an opportunity is taken from us we should rebuild. We should move on. We should not hold a grudge. We should love and continue to love regardless of the circumstances. In every person's life, there are injustices. In every person's life, there are people and circumstances who take away opportunities. Rather than wanting revenge, we must take every injustice to God. In God the Father, in Christ the Son, and in the Holy Spirit, there is ultimate justice. No matter what happens to us in this day and time, we must remain rational, remain calm, and let the ultimate Judge do what He does best. When we are the sole victim of injustice, we must have the spiritual power to turn the other cheek. When we see others who are, can be, or will be the victims of injustice, we must stand against injustice in whatever way preserves the power of God.
