When there is no one to talk to� (Part 1 of
5)
2 Timothy 1:3 I thank God, whom I serve,
as my forefathers did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly
remember you in my prayers. 4 Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I
may be filled with joy. (NIV)
Many times, at the very
center of our life, there is no other human being with whom we can talk. In the United
States, there is a very rich man who has been in my heart for some time. I do
not know him in any personal way. This man is rich in money, rich in power, and rich in
influence. He is divorced. He lost a grandchild and he
is reported to be inconsolable about the loss of his grandchild. Who does he
have to talk to? Perhaps, no one! We all have times when we need someone to talk
to about things going on in our life. Sometimes no one is there who cares enough
to listen to us. Some people go through most of their life with no one to listen
to them when they need to talk the most. Traumas, tragedies, times of loss, and
times of great stress, all eat away at us and we need to talk. There is no easy
answer to the problem of loneliness. We cannot manufacture friends. We cannot
manufacture a caring, listening person. What we must try to remember is Jesus cares. Jesus also listens to us every moment.
