About when we backslide:

2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 11 See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. (NIV)

Sometimes we do what we know we should not do. Sometimes we do the very opposite of what God wants us to do. When we backslide, we must think about what God is thinking at the moment we falter. When we backslide, God holds our life in His heart and He is immensely saddened. However, when we fall away from doing His will, God still loves us, still calls us, and still speaks to our heart just as He did when we are holy and devout. When we fall away, God continually asks us to come home. When we fall away from God's will, He loves us just the same as if we had not fallen. No matter what we do, we are never out of the reach of God's love for us. No matter what we do, no matter where we go, or who we become, God's love is continually reaching out to us.
